Cycling and walking holidays in Cuba

Exploring the Cuban countryside

Cycle it and soak up more of off-beat Cuba

One of the best ways to appreciate the Cuban countryside is by bike. Travel through countryside and small villages that are overlooked on many itineraries and gain an insight into the lives of everyday people as you Cycle Cuba. Spend two days exploring the Vinales Valley - home to the tobacco that makes it into the Havana cigars - on two wheels, with the chance to visit Latin America's second largest cave at Santo Tomas.

Alternatively, explore what Cuba has to offer on foot. Enjoy a Cuba Libre after trekking around the Topes de Collantes, passing waterfalls, lakes and coffee plantations whilst looking out for humming birds, orchids and medicinal plants. Walk to Castro and Guevara's hideaway, which became their headquarters until Batista fled Cuba in 1959, at La Comandancia de la Plata passing through virgin rainforest en route.

Water and other holiday activities in Cuba

Relaxing on Cuba's sandy beaches

Relaxing on Cuba's sandy beaches

Whilst on holiday in Cuba, why not take advantage of the sandy Cuban beaches on the Caribbean and Atlantic coasts. Visit Maria la Gorda, reputedly the best diving site in Cuba and go swimming, scuba diving or snorkelling in the clear Caribbean waters. On the other side of the island you can catch the ferry to Cayo Levisa, part of the Archipelago los Colorados, and spend the day chilling on the beach.

As well as exploring the heights and sites of Cuba, in 2008 you will be able to view a total lunar eclipse from the mogotes at Vinales. Dr Franciso Diego, our expert astronomer, who will give you a real insight into the eclipse and night sky, will accompany you.
