Adventure Holidays in Iceland

Gulfoss Canyon in winter

Iceland, the land of ice and fire, is built almost exclusively from volcanic rocks. Created along the axial rift zone, which marks the boundary between the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates, Iceland's western part belongs to the North American plate and the eastern side to the Eurasian plate.

There is plenty of scenery to marvel at from waterfalls and geysers to canyons and black sand. Highlights of our holidays in Iceland include:

Thingvellir (Parliament Plains) - the site of Iceland's first National Assembly in 930. Lying in a rift valley it is bordered by Lake Thingvallavatn to the south and a mountain range to the north.

Geysir - the first spouting spring that became known to Europeans. It started spouting in the 13th century and suddenly stopped spouting naturally in 1916.

Gullfoss - the Golden Waterfall that cascades into a gorge with tremendous force. It is regarded by many as one of the most beautiful waterfalls in the world.

But don't just take our word for it. Find out for yourself on one of our holidays to Iceland.

Superjeep!

Everyone can 'chill out' on a family holiday in Iceland. Travel to the Land of Ice & Fire to watch water erupting into the air or cascading down into gorges, take a boat trip round the islands of Breithafjordur - home to the infamous Viking 'Eric the Red' who discovered Greenland, and spot cormorants, puffins and (if you're lucky) white-tailed eagles. Find out about volcanoes at the Volcano Show and Iceland's history at the Saga Museum in Reykjavik.

We also offer a family version of our superjeeping Icelandic Escapades short break.
