The "Long Way Down" is a journey embarked on by Ewan McGregor
and Charley Boorman - travelling from John O'Groats through Europe
to Africa.
Travelling the east coast route through Africa they visited
countries they felt would best provide inspiration for themselves,
but also for others who may follow in their footsteps. Explore
supported the trip because we recognise a shared set of values with
the Long Way Down team.
The "Long Way Down" television series is showing on BBC 2 at 8pm
on Sundays from 28th October 2007.
A book and a DVD
(
Long Way Down : Complete BBC Series) of the series are also
available.
The Long Way Down journey has an aim of supporting charities
along the way, such as UNICEF projects,
Riders For Health and the
Children's
Hospice Association of Scotland. The pair hoped to give
something back to the communities they visited and recapture the
joys of the open road once more.
Long Way Down is produced and directed by Russ Malkin of Big
Earth and David Alexanian of Elixir Films, who have witnessed and
documented Ewan and Charley's previous adventures Long Way Round
and Race To Daka.
