Explore Travel Insurance Policy Notes & Conditions

Insurance mandatory

It is worth reiterating that all Explore customers must have adequate travel insurance when travelling on our tours. If you do not have Explore insurance your tour leader will need to check your own insurance documentation at the start of the tour.

Pre-existing medical conditions

It is a pre-requisite of any travel insurance policy (including the Explore policy) that you inform the insurance company of any pre-existing medical conditions relating to you or any other person upon whom travel depends, at the time of purchase and obtain written confirmation from them that you are fully covered for such conditions. If in doubt, Explore Insurance policy holders should call the helpline in confidence on: 0870 906 3140.

Included Activities

The following activities are specifically listed as being covered under the policy: Abseiling, Ballooning, Boating, Bungee-Jumping, Canoeing, Canyoning, Climbing, Cycling, Gliding, Hiking, Paragliding, Pot-holing, Riding, Sailing, Scuba Diving, Sub Aqua, Trekking, White Water Rafting, Winter Sports, (inc Snowmobiling) & Skiing.

Excluded Activities

The following hazardous activities are NOT covered by the Explore policy: Parachuting, Sky-diving, Hang-Gliding, Microlite Flying, Ski Racing in major events, Ski Racing in major events, Ski jumping, Ice Hockey & Bob Sleighing.

Notes on Premiums

All prices shown include UK Government Insurance Premium Tax @ 17.5%.
The cost of the insurance premium per person for individual tours is shown in the tables above. This premium is only for the period indicated. If you are extending your travel period or the duration of the tour is extended or reduced by Explore you may need to reconsider the duration of policy purchased.
Insurance cover should be valid from the time you leave your home until you return home. You must allow for travelling time before and after the tour. If this exceeds the period of the premium stated you must increase the premium to the next highest band. The appropriate premium must be added in full to the deposit when you make your reservation.

How do we define 'Europe' for insurance premium purposes?

Europe is defined as: Countries west of the Ural Mountains; countries bordering the Mediterranean Sea; plus Azerbaijan, Georgia, Armenia, Jordan, Greenland, Iceland, Faroe Islands, Madeira, the Canary Islands, Azores & Mediterranean islands.

The full terms, conditions and exclusions are incorporated in the Policy Document which will be sent to you at the time of purchase and which alone constitutes the contract of insurance between the insured person(s) and the insurer. Please ensure that you take this Policy Document and your Holiday Confirmation Invoice with you when you travel, leaving copies in safe place at home.
