School Adventures

One big learning curve

Having Fun in Morocco

Adventure travel broadens more than horizons. It's an incredibly positive learning experience and can improve self-esteem, leadership and communication skills. It promotes interest in global and environmental issues, and rewards inquisitive young minds with the dazzling diversity of our planet and its people.

We are Europe's leading adventure travel company and have been pioneering tours to some of the world's most amazing places for more than 25 years.

Our method is simple: by travelling in small groups we frequently get off the beaten track to encounter people and places you'd never see on a conventional school trip. As a result students have a closer and more personal experience of the country.

A natural curriculum

Travel is a fantastic way of bringing the curriculum to life. It turns subjects, events, people and places into real entities, rather than just lessons learned in class.

Geography students can climb volcanoes; history students can stand on battlefields; anthropology students can home-stay with local people; biology students can trek through rainforests…

Whatever the subject, travel fosters a more poignant understanding that stays with students for life.

It's a great bonding experience too. Children quickly develop leadership and teamworking skills. They forge strong friendships based on their shared adventures and - outside the school gates - you'll get to know them better too. The result is better communication all round, which naturally reaps rewards in the classroom.

World wandering

A typical Explore school group consists of approximately 16 secondary age students and their teachers travelling on a one- or two-week escorted tour. We aim not just to see but to fully experience the area or country visited as well. As such, the itinerary may involve:

  • Staying in a variety of accommodation, for example with local families in a jungle village house, a riverboat or a Mongolian ger
  • Using diverse means of transport - camel, canoe, train or tuk tuk to name but a handful
  • Seeing conservation at work in a cheetah or orang utan sanctuary
  • Visiting local villages, markets and schools to get a true appreciation of daily life
