Enjoy your Aegean Adventure

Whether you're after a relaxing break, soaking up the Aegean sun, or an adventure, exploring the little-known and unspoilt secret, which is the Island of Evia, this tour has a pace that will suit everyone.

I will always look back on this trip as one that surpassed my expectations in every way. It is clear to see why this has been one of Explore's most popular and long standing tours.

Exploring Evia

Evia is the second largest Greek island, after Crete, known for its beauty and cemented in both Greece's rich history and fascinating mythology.

The dramatic coastline is perfectly formed and picturesque villages are poetically placed on the landscape to make up a scene that is quintessentially Greek.

Like stepping back in time, the island shows a vision of how Crete would have looked 50 years ago and has barely been touched by tourism.

The tour is lead by Thanos Mamas, Captain of the Caique. A local expert in Evian history and indeed everything Greek, his enthusiasm and knowledge really enhances your experience on tour, be it finding the tavernas with the most character, personally guiding you round ancient ruins or sailing to secluded bays.

Immerse yourself in Greece

This tour provides a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in Greek traditions and culture. For me a real highlight was visiting the Acropolis at Nea Styra.

The hike is very rewarding once you see the amazing Gate of Armeni which dates back to 8th century BC. The area has breath-taking panoramic views of Evia that leave a lasting impression.

If you are still feeling adventurous, after the climb there is a small and narrow descent into the Chapel of St Nikolaos. Located in a cave it is an intimate and impressive archaeological discovery.

With an easygoing itinerary, there is an option to do as little, or as much, as you feel on a day-to-day basis.

Evia has a rich array of ancient sites, towns and temples to visit, however there is always the option to stay on the boat, to enjoy the sun or explore the beauty of the villages next to which you are anchored.
