I became a guide by chance, after doing a night class one winter 10 years ago on local history. I enjoyed it so much, I went on to do more and then felt I needed to pass on all these amazing facts about our islands. I enjoy helping people getting the best out of their visit. With amazing history and heritage, the fascinating steps, streets and alleyways of St Peter Port, spectacular cliff walks and views, great food, and easy access to the smaller two Channel Islands, Guernsey really does have it all.
When I’m not being a guide, I love swimming in the sea, walking the cliffs, helping look after our grandchildren and spending time in the garden. Picking home-grown new potatoes and salad fresh from the garden, and adding it to some locally caught fish and shellfish makes the ideal meal - especially when followed by home-grown strawberries.
For those thinking of visiting the Channel Islands, I’d say - come for as long as you can. There is more to see than you would first imagine. And be prepared for each island to have its own individual character. They are all really quite different.
