Our USA 2012 and Australia 2012 eclipse tours are accompanied by our astronomy expert Andy Green. Andy has been actively involved in astronomy and space for over 34 years and has travelled the world to give presentations and lectures, visiting observatories as far afield as those in the mainland USA, Australia, Chile and Hawaii.
He has a degree in Geo-Science / Planetary Geology and is a Fellow of both the British Interplanetary Society and Royal Astronomical Society. Andy is also a freelance space journalist and has had articles published in Spaceflight Magazine and Quest Magazine. Other credits include lecturing for Cunard on the QE2, Queen Mary 2 and Queen Victoria and presenting talks for the London Science Museum. Every month he is the regular Astro guest on BBC Radio.
Having the opportunity to visit many Space Centres and report from NASA’s Kennedy Space Centre for a Shuttle Launch, Andy has met over 50 current and former astronauts and cosmonauts gaining a unique insight into their missions and lives, including some of the men who have walked on the moon, one of whom is a personal friend. He has been honored by having his picture flown in space to the International Space Station where it orbited the earth for 7 months.
Currently director of StarDome - Astronomy & Astronautics, (a public outreach and professional consulting and lecturing service), his business also incorporates one of the UK’s largest and most popular mobile planetaria which has brought the universe to hundreds of thousands of people.
Andy loves to travel and meet people, sharing his knowledge and passion for Space Flight and Astronomy. He has been working with Explore for 2 years now and accompanied our
China, and more recently, Easter Island eclipse trips.
