Cycling: A Month By Month Guide

Following a circular route around the island, our two-week Sri Lanka cycling tour moves at a moderate pace, with some sections that may be tougher, but are even more rewarding. Cycle alongside lake and canals to Sigiriya to climb Lion's Rock, before riding along flat backroads to the ancient city of Polonnaruwa. 

Avoid the crowds with a Morocco cycling adventure in April. The weather should be kind at this time of year too; although cold at night, the days are mostly dry and comfortable temperatures hover around the low 20s (Celsius). Starting in the mighty High Atlas Mountains, we'll pedal and drive through impressive valleys and mountain scenery that leads us to the start of the Sahara desert. We'll also stop to explore crumbling fortified cities and visit traditional Berber villages en route. 

You can't beat the blissful summer warmth of southern France's Mediterranean coast for a cycling tour centred around the historic Canal du Midi. Book a trip in June to see the canal in full bloom and soak up the rays as you uncover turreted forts and rustic medieval towns on this gentle ride through the spectacular rural countryside. Refuel on delicious French cuisine en route and sample local wines from the plethora of nearby vineyards. 

Join our guided cycling tour through Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia in August for warm, sunny days in the saddle. As well as discovering the must-see sites of the three Baltic capitals of Vilnius, Riga and Tallinn, we'll circumnavigate the calm waters of Lithuania's Curonian Lagoon, pedal beside the Baltic Sea on a ride along Jurmala beach in Latvia, and explore the ancient woodlands and bogs of Estonia's spectacular Lahemaa National Park. 

With year-round sunshine and mild, pleasant temperatures in autumn, pedal through the vast rural countryside of Spain's Murcia region in October to enjoy dry days and comfortable riding temperatures. Follow our Moderate-graded cycling route along smooth, quiet, and gently undulating roads and dedicated cycle paths as you coast past apricot orchards, freewheel through tiny rustic villages and stop to explore a 15th-century fortress in Moratalla. 

For winter sunshine and a Christmas break with a difference, jump in the saddle for a cycling tour from South to North in Vietnam. From the cultural melting pot of Saigon to the ancient capital of Hanoi, see the very best that this fascinating country has to offer from the saddle on an active trip. Pedal through lush vegetation on the banks of the Mekong Delta, cycle over the pine forest hillsides of Hon Giao Pass in the Central Highlands and weave in and out of bustling market stalls in Hoi An.
