No better way to arrive in Aswan than sailing down the Nile to bring you to this beautiful town. The most southerly in Egypt, traditionally regarded as the frontier post of Upper Egypt. Sited on the east bank, it stands just below the First Cataract and is the meeting point of Arab culture with Nubia and black Africa. Opposite, the great Sahara desert falls directly into the waters, making for spectacular evening sunsets.
