Adventure Holidays To Bosnia Herzegovina

Tours in Bosnia Herzegovina

Bosnia is an undiscovered adventure play ground. The country has a wealth to offer – age old cultures, stunning mountain landscapes and hiking trails and beautiful, historic towns and cities. The most easterly point of the West and the most westerly point of the East bear the mark of two great empires. Dominated by the Turks and then briefly by the Austria-Hungarians, their influence permeates the culture and architecture of this land.

Journeying through the Balkans, our entry into Bosnia is across the famous bridge over the Drina. Designed with 11 arches, the structure is considered a masterpiece of Ottoman architecture. Now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, that was the scene of some of the worst atrocities of the Bosnian War, the bridge has long been an iconic symbol of the region carrying hope and change for so many people. We then explore the wonders and delights of 3 beautiful cities – Sarajevo, Mostar and Trebinje. Sarajevo, Bosnia Herzegovina’s vibrant capital, is a city famed for centuries of religious diversity and often called the “Jerusalem of Europe”. Mostar, set on the banks of the Neretva River, is the largest and most important city in the Herzegovina region. One of the most beautiful towns in the entire country, this UNESCO World Heritage Site is divided by the Neretva, with Croats on one side and Muslims on the other, reflecting its rich cultural heritage. And finally Trebinje, lying along the banks of the Trebisˇnjica River, just across the border from Dubrovnik. Scattered with old mills and bridges, it hosts the attractive Ottoman Arsalangic Bridge that was built in the 16th century and is considered by many to be one of the finest of its kind in the country
