It's important to us that, when choosing your adventure, you pick one that is right for you. So we've made it as easy as possible for you to make those all-important decisions with our new Active ratings.
Looking for a full-on active holiday? Or something more relaxed? To help you find the tour with the right level of activity we’ve added an ‘active’ rating to each tour.
Please use these ratings as a rough guide only: what one person finds strenuous another may find moderate or even easy. See the individual tour dossiers for more detailed descriptions of the activities each day.
We're also offering more choice and flexibility than ever before with Tailormade Explore, adventures designed by you...
| Relaxing trips suitable for anyone in good health who enjoys being outdoors. These tours may involve some exploring on foot, for example around local markets, ancient sites or natural wonders. |
Easy |
| Easy-going walking or cycling tours, or trips involving light outdoor activities such as animal riding, swimming or game-tracking. Suitable for any reasonably active person. |
Moderate |
| Moderate walking and cycling tours (generally about 4 to 6 hours per day) or multi-active holidays involving more strenuous activities such as a white-water rafting, sea-kayaking or mountain biking.A good level of fitness recommended. |
Strenuous |
| This is the point where ‘walks’ become ‘treks’, often at altitude and can involve several ascents and descents over the day. On cycling tours it means some hill climbing and longer days in the saddle. A higher level of fitness is required for these trips. |
Tough |
| Major treks that involve long consecutive days of walking with lots of ascent/descent and normally at altitude. |
