By best holiday was when I climbed Kilimanjaro – it was amazing to achieve something that has always been on my bucket list. The challenge had its ups and downs but really exceeded my expectations. There were a range of hard and easy climbs, but I loved  the rock climbing and scrambling the most, it added a lot of excitement to the holiday. The guide and the porters were far more helpful and encouraging than I had expected and the staff were outstanding. The tour guide, who I re-named our map, guided us through the mountain and made sure special food was arranged for my dietary requirements. I couldn’t fault the trip at all, it was fantastic.

I want to travel to Cambodia and Vietnam next as they have always intrigued me and I have heard so many good things about them. I want to venture off the beaten track and explore the countries for what they really are, like I tend to do with all of my trips. I would also love to visit Nepal one day as it is meant to be great for walking. I feel another walking trip would be amazing after my ventures up Kilimanjaro. I would have never considered a walking tour before Kilimanjaro but now I feel they are a much better way to see a place, you are able to engage with the locals and see the country for what it really is - not just see it through a car window.

My best piece of travel advice for walkers is to carry wipes and body spray. Washing facilities can sometimes be limited when trekking but it’s great to be able to freshen up a bit whenever you want.
