Sri Lanka: Serendip the Elephant

Serendip the elephant

In September 2007, Explore became proud adoptive parents to a beautiful baby elephant who was rescued and transferred to the Elephant Transit Home at Udawalawe National Park when she was only 3 or 4 days old.

What we are doing

We have 'adopted' Serendip and our sponsorship will keep her fed and in vet's bills until she is old enough to be released into the wild at around 4 years old.

What you can do

If you are travelling on our Elephant Odyssey (ref FSL) tour you may get the chance to spot Serendip on your visit to the Elephant Transit Home. Donations can also be made locally. Though it is not possible to donate directly to the Elephant Transit Home from the UK, we encourage donations to one of the ETH’s major supporters - the Born Free Foundation - to help keep wild animals in the wild.
