People planning solo holidays could visit the Central American destination
Honduras is an "up-and-coming Central American destination" for people planning solo holidays, according to a travel writer.
Nancy Trejos, a journalist who works for the Washington Post, travelled to the state and described her experience in the "diverse" country.
She noted how the country makes the most of its size by offer a vast range of different opportunities to travellers, such as those on adventure holidays.
"The second-largest country in Central America has a lot to offer: beaches, mountains, jungles, diverse plant and animal species, Mayan ruins and islands," she wrote.
Ms Trejos added that one of the things that makes the country a perfect tourism destination were the very friendly locals: "As my friends and I strolled past clothing stores, bodegas and concrete houses, we never knew who might invite us in for a chat - or a nap," she said.
Honduras is home to many beautiful natural attractions, such as the Mayan hieroglyphic stairway in Copan. Many people combine a trip to the country with an excursion into neighbouring Guatemala.
