Country is simply 'fascinating' according to writer

China is a country which is great for people planning solo holidays as it is simply "fascinating" according to a famous author

That is the opinion of Dan Cruickshank, who told the Daily Telegraph that the vast country is where he would most like to travel to in the world.

"I would love to revisit China, as it's an absolutely fascinating country," he said, noting that he loves taking a camera to take snaps of "architectural sites, historic buildings, or whatever subject I'm researching at the time".

Then, when asked for his top travel tip, Mr Cruickshank said that people should research their destination fully before they go. He noted that "it saves a lot of time if you plan which places you want to visit".

The writer is known for his non-fiction books as well as some television presenting roles. Some of his better-known books include Around the World in Eighty Treasures and Brunel: The Man Who Built the World.
