Expert says country is a great introduction to Africa
First-time travellers to Africa will find that Ghana is the ideal place to start, a destination management company has said.
Alan Brown, sales and marketing director at dmAFRICA, noted that the recent history of the country lends itself to being a great destination for those planning solo holidays.
"Living for so long in a stable democracy, Ghanaians are very welcoming and laid back, attributes which contribute to the growth in the number of tourists to its thriving towns, its brimming culture and its sandy beaches," he said.
Mr Brown went on to say that it is a great destination to serve as a component of a larger African luxury holiday tour.
"More and more tourists are finding Ghana now, and many of them are linking a stay there with a stay in neighbouring Togo or Benin, countries with beaches and a rich and unique cultural heritage to complement Ghana," he added.
Earlier this year, Ghana was named as one of the top emerging destinations in the Wanderlust Travel Awards 2011.
