'Plenty of things to explore' in Melbourne
E-mail Print

City is great for solo holiday-makers looking for culture

People planning adventure holidays to Australia should take in Melbourne on their trip, as the city has "plenty" to offer travellers.

That is the opinion of television presenter Fiona Phillips, who wrote in the Daily Mail about her trip to Australia, where she was hoping to see the duck-billed platypus. However, she briefly stopped off in the capital of Victoria for a day.

The television presenter noted that although she did not have a long time to explore the city, she made her time count.

"My first stop was the lovely city of Melbourne. Having so little time there … I decided to avoid the usual touristy things," she said.

"There are plenty of other things to explore: Melbourne has sea, a fine art centre [and] several stadiums."

Phillips is perhaps best known for fronting ITV's weekday morning show, GMTV, in the 1990s. She has also appeared on Strictly Come Dancing and voiced a character in the British release of DreamWorks' Shark Tale.
