Adventure travel tours may be the best way to see the African country
An author for leading guidebook company Bradt has recommended taking adventure travel tours to Ghana as the country has a lot to offer in different geographical areas.
Philip Briggs, who has written travel guides about the western African destination, was talking about the capital city of Accra, located on the southern tip of the country, when he noted that it is a "gateway city" and Ghana has lots to offer everywhere.
"I don't think very many people would consider Accra a major draw card in isolation from the rest of Ghana," he said.
"It is one of those cities - like Nairobi or Johannesburg; unlike Paris or London - that is more of a gateway to the rest of the country than a destination in its own right."
However, the travel writer - who has also written guides of western Africa's wildlife - noted that Accra has a very interesting historical quarter and "some worthwhile markets".
