Holidays should be 'all about downtime'

Actor suggests holidays should be a time to take your mind off things

People planning adventure holidays should remember that travel trips should be all about "downtime", according to a famous actor.

Art Malik, who has appeared in such films as A Passage to India and True Lies, said that - for him - holidays are best if he does not "have to think about anything", reports the Daily Telegraph.

Taking "downtime" does not just mean relaxing on a beach or luxuriating in a far-flung spa, but just getting away from the daily grind. Activity trips are often best for this, as are adventure holidays to places far removed from everyday life.

Mr Malik told the news provider: "For me [holidays are] all about downtime; about saying, 'I don't have to think about anything, I don't have to worry about scripts. This is my time.'"

"I can read a book that I want to read and not a book that is about to be turned into a movie or a television series. It's my own."

Travellers hoping to forget about home and work commitments could take an adventure holiday to Antarctica or the Amazon, where they can just focus on the destinations.
