Excess baggage is all about the bikes for one day
The "simple" and "versatile" bike is a great vehicle for those planning adventure holidays, as cycling holidays are one of the better ways to experience fantastic countryside views.
That is according to the BBC Radio 4 travel-based radio show called Excess Baggage, which features travellers' tales and anecdotes from listeners. The latest episode of which is dedicated to cycling holidays.
First airing on Sunday, the radio programme is available on BBC's iPlayer service until this Saturday.
Guests on the show included Robert Penn - a journalist who has recently written the book It's All About the Bike: the Pursuit of Happiness on Two Wheels - and Susie Wheeldon, who is a cycling activist who has taking cycling holidays in many different countries.
Some other episodes of the radio show Excess Baggage have included ones themed around the major - and not so major - Greek islands, as well as one dedicated to the autonomous Spanish region of Catalonia.
