Flying tips for families

For parents taking their kids on adventure holidays this summer the nightmare of long-haul flights can be overcome with these hints from British Airways.

Avoid the difficulty of being rejected at the gate if you intend carrying a car seat onboard by ensuring it matches the airline's criteria.

Kids love cuddles and comforts so when they're up in the air its good to be able to give them their favourite bear or blanket, often helping them to sleep.

When flying somewhere with an exceptional time difference it's great to allow kids two days to readjust after returning home.

While visitors to the flight deck are no longer allowed while the plane is in the air, it's still acceptable to approach the cabin after landing.

BA senior first officer and mother-of-two Carley Lear said: "Children of all ages are very welcome to come to the flight deck to meet the pilots. The best time is after landing when passengers are disembarking."

Hopefully this guide will help families have a fuss-free plane journey this season.
