There is more to Cambodia than its 'headline sights'

Travel expert recommends destination for people, climate and landscape

People planning an adventure holiday to south-east Asia may like to consider visiting Cambodia, as the country has a great mix of amazing "headline sights" and smaller, more discrete attractions.

That is according to Daniel Robinson, a travel expert who writes books for Lonely Planet. He noted the vast range of things that travellers can do in Cambodia on the travel guide company's website.

"Cambodia has a great deal more to offer than its headline sights. Travellers at first drawn by the spectacular temples around Siem Reap often end up enchanted - and determined to return," he noted.

Mr Robinson continued to say this is largely down to "the friendliness of the Khmer people, the sublime beauty of the countryside and the botanical exuberance of the country's still-pristine tropical rainforests".

The Lonely Planet author has in the past penned the company's travel guide for Cambodia, as well as books of advice for people visiting Paris and Germany.
