Bahia is Brazil's 'state of happiness'
E-mail Print

North-east Brazilian region is home to an 'amazing' coast

People planning to take an adventure holiday to Brazil should consider travelling to the north-east to find the country's "state of happiness", according to the promotional body for the South American nation.

Marco Lomanto, who is the products and destinations director for Embratur, the Brazilian tourist board, said that a certain region - Bahia - is ideal for people on solo holidays, who might enjoy the "amazing" coast.

"[The region offers] amazing stretches of coastline with popular resorts ... and host to one of the world's largest carnivals. It is also known as Brazil's 'state of happiness'," he said.

The historical centre of the capital city of the Bahia region, Salvador, is a Unesco World Heritage Site. It is one of 18 in the country, which means it has more than Greece, Canada and its neighbouring Argentina.

Travellers planning to take an adventure holiday to Brazil will find that there is vast multitudes of things to do all over the country, from the bustling Rio de Janeiro to the magnificent Iguancu Falls.
