Travel guide app designed to help holidaymakers around
E-mail Print

The guide can supplement people on adventure holidays with additional information about the places they are visiting.

Sometimes there can be so much to see and do on adventure holidays abroad that vacationers can feel a little overwhelmed.

Luckily, there are numerous guides and tools they can use to decide what they want to do when not following an itinerary.

One such personal guide has been designed to specifically turn a smartphone into the ultimate travel companion.

The PocketGuide travel application allows smartphone users to navigate around the main sites and sounds of the city, while also recording travel video logs to share with their friends and families.

Some 20 major European cities are covered in depth by the app, which utilises voice instructions rather than being text-based.

"As the holiday season is boosting, every day thousands choose to download our travel application on their mobile phone", said Martin Retai, chief executive of GPS City Guide, which makes PocketGuide.

"We hire international professional travel writers to maintain high-quality and relevance in our content."

A growing number of travel guides, including the likes of Lonely Planet, are now being produced specifically for smartphones, allowing travellers to take with them a wealth of knowledge wherever they choose to go.
