Cuba is an ideal choice for adventure holidays

People planning adventure holidays should consider travelling to Cuba for its mountains and "well-preserved ecosystems", according to the country's promotional body for the United Kingdom.

On its website, the Cuba Tourist Board UK said that the abundance of natural sights around the island is one of the many things that draws tourists to the Caribbean country on adventure holidays.

"The country … has well-preserved ecosystems and a diverse biosphere," the organisation noted.

"While largely flat, Cuba has four major mountain ranges [with] the Sierra Maestra the east … boasting the country's highest peak: Pico Turquino, [standing at] 1,974 metres."

This mountain is located in the Turquino National Park, where people on adventure holidays can see some of Cuba's fantastic flora and fauna - half of which are indigenous to the nation.

The tourism sector is one of the biggest contributors to the economy in Cuba, alongside the farming of sugar cane.
