Greek island beats Bali to top spot
The Greek island of Santorini - located in the Aegean Sea - has been voted the best in the world by the readers of a travel publication.
Travel and Leisure has recently held the first of what will become an annual survey on holiday trends and top destinations, hotels and cruises.
The travel magazine asked its readers to choose an island and give it scores based on its natural attractions, activities and sights, restaurants and food, people and the value the destination offers.
Santorini, which is a beautiful island with stunning volcanic vistas, was given a score of 90.61 out of 100 by the readers of the magazine, just ahead of Bali - which took second place with 90.45.
If people are travelling to Santorini on an adventure travel tour, they could also take in some of the other impressive Greek islands, such as Naxos, which is the Cyclades' largest island, or Syros, which is in the same island chain.
