Travellers can visit the coast, the mountains and the jungle
Peru is a diverse and interesting destination that is ideal for people planning adventure travel tours, because there are so many activities to do and attractions to see in the country.
The guidebook company Lonely Planet said that the country offers so many different opportunities that it is sometimes difficult to decide what to do, if travellers are only there for a short-term adventure holiday.
"Clinging to the Andes, between the parched coastal desert and the lush expanse of the Amazon rainforest, Peru offers such a wide range of experiences that it can be difficult to choose between them," the organisation noted.
"There are museums to visit, lakes to ogle, waves to surf [and] labyrinthine cities to explore."
Another reason that Peru is good for adventure travel tours is its location: it borders Brazil and Ecuador (home of the Galapagos Islands), making it ideal for people hoping to take in a range of destinations in South America.
