Cape Town's Table Mountain is in the running to become one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature
Travellers heading to Cape Town on adventure holidays in South Africa will have the chance to discover one of the world's greatest natural wonders.
Table Mountain is currently in the running to become one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature, and the city's tourism chiefs are keen to highlight one of their strongest attractions.
South Africa's second-most populous city will learn at the end of this year if its iconic mountain has made the final list. It is competing against 27 other of the world's most amazing scenes.
Holidaymakers visiting Cape Town can also visit Robben Island. While it may boast some exquisite natural scenery, the World Heritage Site is also infamous because it housed the prison in which Nelson Mandela was held for much of his 27 years behind bars.
For this reason, Robben Island has become one of South Africa's most important historical sites.
Other tourist attractions worth visiting in Cape Town include the Two Oceans Aquarium and the Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden.
Cape Town prides itself on being one of the most multicultural cities on the planet, as well as a centre for the arts and history.
