Oman is one of the 'best kept secrets in Arabia' for those seeking activity holidays
Tourists looking for somewhere a little different for an activity holiday may be interested to hear that Oman is one of the "best kept secrets in Arabia".
That is according to Lubaina Sheerazi, India representative of the Sultanate of Oman, who made these comments in an interview with dnaindia.com.
As the country has 17,000 km of coastline, it offers an abundance of opportunities for snorkelling and scuba diving fans, she claims.
However, for those who enjoy hiking, Oman also boasts deserts and mountains, which is why it is a hit with many backpackers.
Ms Sheerazi told the news provider: "Bangalore is a cosmopolitan city, and we’ve found that a lot of people from here make trips to Vietnam, Cambodia and Mongolia.
"It appears like a lot of people here are interested in adventure and culture tourism, besides relaxed holidays."
She added that between July and September the monsoon means the land changes from brown to green, so this is a good time to visit.
