As one of the world's most rapidly developing emerging economies, Brazil is quickly opening up and becoming more accessible to tourists.
Because of this, people on activity breaks in Brazil are finding that there is plenty beyond the main city centres such as Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paolo.
According to Embratur, the country's official tourism board, the number of people choosing to holiday in Brazil is rising, thanks to more flights and competitive pricing.
"We are a long distance country but we have plenty to offer," said Marco Lomanto, director of products and destinations at the organisation.
"Everyone knows about Rio de Janeiro, but we have a lot in the north east coast of Brazil. It has beautiful beaches, cultural heritage and it is a nice place to visit because the sea is always warm."
One of the region's most bustling hubs is Salvador, which was the first colonial capital of Brazil.
Known as the 'city of happiness' because of its reputation for street parties and parades, Salvador can be enjoyed on the Pure Brazil activity holiday itinerary, which also takes in Rio, Iguacu and the Amazon rainforest.
