Turkey's bustling night life offers great food and plenty of music
Families booking adventure holidays in Turkey may well be anticipating a treasure trove of historical and cultural wonders to explore.
But fewer of them are likely to be as well prepared for the veritable feast of food and drink that the country has to offer, as well as its bustling night life.
Straddling two continents as it does, Turkey has become a melting pot of diverse and disparate influences and no-where is this clearer than in its nightlife.
Centred traditionally on the meyhanes, which are similar to taverns, evenings in the Mediterranean country tend to be filled with music, dance and fine foods.
It has a vibrant range of young bars and clubs featuring DJs of local and international repute. Particularly in the summer, many of these venues open up to offer entertainment on the waterside, whether its Traditional Anatolian folk music or Western-influenced dance.
Focusing on Istanbul, the country's tourism board Go Turkey notes: "Many of the hip new hangouts, chic restaurants and rooftop bars are all a stones-throw from the energetic Istiklal Caddesi in Taksim and nearby Tunel, as well as many dotted along the Bosphorus."
Istanbul can be enjoyed on numerous adventure holidays in Turkey.
