Travellers on trekking holidays in Kathmandu will be able to see many beautiful sights during their time in the city, it has been claimed.

An article on the San Diego Reader website claimed the Nepalese city is ideal for adventurous types who are keen to explore the country by foot.

It said: "Kathmandu is one of the most notable Nepal trekking spots in the country. Not only is this city immortalised in song and movie, as well as book, the people within it have a strong sense of cultural awareness that shows in their actions.

"There are many lovely trekking spots about the city that can be found to lead to beautiful places."

The article added that marketplaces are one of the most popular tourist attractions in the country as guests can pick up a unique, handcrafted souvenir which is unavailable throughout the world.

Kathmandu is located in the central region of Nepal and has a population of around 950,000.
