Spain is perceived as the safest country to visit
People contemplating their first activity holiday may wish to visit Spain, which many people from the United Kingdom see as the safest place to visit.
Carmen Hernandez Gomez, market analyst at the Spanish Tourism Office, noted that many people return to the Iberian country after they have visited once.
"Brits have been travelling to Spain for many decades. They like it and tend to go back. Nine in ten that arrive in Spain every year have been in the country before."
Ms Gomez's comments come in response to a recent poll from sunshine.co.uk, which found that Spain was seen as the safest country to visit by British travellers.
There are many reasons to visit the Southern European country, including the chance of taking a hiking holiday through Analucia.
"If they decide to rent a car, the roads are safe. Facilities such as hospitals and airports are modern. Spanish people are friendly and welcoming. And it's just two hours away," she added.
