Not known for its Mozart connection, but it is there
According to a travel writer, the capital of the Czech Republic is a great getaway destination for those wishing to go on a solo holiday.
Prague is one of the Independent newspaper's top 50 travel destinations and Claire Wrathall says the city is great for lovers of classical music.
"Though it's probably not the best-known city of Amadeus, there remains no more compelling cultural outing than a performance of Mozart's Don Giovanni at the Estates Theatre, the house for which it was written," she writes.
The Lobkowicz Palace, one of the city's private museums, houses manuscripts written by the hand of the famous composer.
According to the travel writer, "the story of how the collection [in the palace] came to be returned to the family who acquired it is as fascinating as what is on display".
Prague is well known for its rich cultural history, making it a perfect city to wander around on a solo holiday.
