Writer urges travellers to mix with the locals

Those looking for cycling holidays should travel to Cuba, where the mode of transport gives you a chance to discover more.

Richard Madden - writing for the Daily Telegraph - names taking a cycling holiday in Cuba as one of the best adventure holiday experiences.

In the feature, Mr Madden wrote that cycling gives travellers more "time to mix with the locals and discover the island's fascinating culture".

The writer also described the main draw of adventure holidays, including cycling trips, as the excitement of "physical challenge, risk, rushes of adrenalin, epic natural landscapes and … an escape from the mundane, the predictable and the repetitive".

Much of Cuba's "fascinating culture" is intrinsically linked to its interesting history.

The country, wish was originally a colony of Spain, gained independence from the Untied States in 1902 and underwent a famous revolution in the 1950s.

As well as historical monuments, people travelling to Cuba can see the home of one of the most famous ballet companies in the world: the Ballet Nacional de Cuba.
