The French ski resort of Chamonix is a unique destination with great opportunities for those planning adventure holidays, the Office de Tourisme de Chamonix has said.
Claire Burnet, of the tourism organisation, noted that the resort had "lots of history, lots of great skiing and adventure sports, a thriving music and art scene and a very multi-cultural population".
Despite being popular with sports personalities, photographers and artists, Ms Burnet said that it was "not posh, it has accommodation and facilities for all budgets. What most people share here is a passion for the mountains, the scenery and the way of life".
While speaking to her, she said that it was snowing in the resort and although there is no heavy snow predicted, as the majority of the resort is above 2000m, conditions on the slopes were good.
According to search engine company Bing UK, Chamonix has been the most searched for ski resort on their webpage.
