Both students and retirees chose the country as their favourite
Solo holidays in Australia appeal to people of all ages and you cannot pigeon-hole it as a destination just for one type of holiday-maker, Teletext Holidays has said.
Research from the travel company earlier this month found that both those on a gap year and retirees saw Australia as the top destination for their travels.
John Carter, a travel writer and presenter speaking on behalf of Teletext Holidays, said the Antipodean island is a great place for British people looking for solo holidays.
"There is a huge range of accommodation, from the backpacker hostel, right up to the four- and five-star luxury hotels, and there's a wide range of stuff to do when you get there," he said.
"Australia is a wonderful destination, especially when the UK is concerned, because there isn't a language barrier, they drive on the 'proper' side of the road … [and] there are tremendous facilities."
