Adventure travel seekers could consider heading to the Sichuan province of China, where they can experience truly eastern culture.
Angela Jones, travel writer for the Daily Mail, revealed that the differences between eastern and western cultures are very noticeable at street level.
She wrote: "For all the wealth of its entrepreneurs, most people still ride to work on bicycles, and it is not unusual to see an old rickshaw - though these days they are not pulled by hand, but tugged by a moped."
During her stay, Ms Jones also had the opportunity to sample the local cuisine and revealed it was not at all as she expected.
"Forget everything you've learned about Sichuan cuisine from Chinese takeaways - the real thing performed at the food stalls on Jinli Striit, is entirely different," she explained.
The travel writer went on to tell that the food is much spicier and everything contains very hot chillies, which may come of good news to thrill seeking food fans looking for a challenge on their holidays.
