Groups looking to book family adventure holidays should contemplate a trip to Dordogne in France, as the region's eponymous river is "one of the most impressive natural features of the region".
That is according to a feature on The Daily Telegraph's website, which says that the river's "majestic progress" is one well worth seeing up close.
The Dordogne opens up to a staggering two miles across as it nears its end, but further up the river, the conditions are perfect for a family canoeing trip.
Going on, the writer talks about other features around the river that should be seen by groups on family adventure holidays as well, such as the lakes and, first, the gorges.
"They are monumental, and the architecture that they have inspired, such as the Millau Viaduct, is equally monumental," it says.
"Where there are rivers, there are lakes, too. Maybe there are just too many places to head for, but the lakes of Pareloup, Pont de Salars and Villefranche de Panat should also be on that list of things to do and see."
