Chopin history is one of the biggest attractions in the Polish city

People on singles holidays looking for cultural attractions should think about planning a trip to Warsaw, which was recently named as one of the top 50 cultural destinations in the world in the Sunday Telegraph.

The Polish city is a cultural hub of people interested in history and classical music, according to travel writer Claire Wrathall.

Ms Wrathall says that although much of the city was destroyed during the second world war, the reconstruction effort has resulted in "picturesque pockets in the centre". However, she says music-lovers may get more from the city than most.

"The most famous name associated with Warsaw is Chopin, hence the museum dedicated to him and the innovative Chopin trail, from Krasinksi Square to the Chopin monument in Lazienkowski Park," she writes.

People contemplating a trip to Poland could also visit the nearby Krakow for an adventure holiday. Both cities offer areas which are perfect for canoeing, cycling and trekking.
