Hiking holidays in east African country can take in sights of Mount Kenya

People on adventure holidays should visit Kenya, as it offers beautiful views, amazing wildlife and "a sense of peace", according to a journalist.

Julie Davidson, from The Scotsman national newspaper, wrote about a trip she took to the East African country with her daughter.

The writer said that the mountain after which the country is named offers some of the most astounding views in the world.

"I can read my watch by the full moon. We have watched it climb over Mount Kenya, and when I drift out of sleep around 2am it's directly overhead," she wrote.

"I don't want to snooze through every minute of this exceptional night, and neither does my daughter Catherine ... We can see forever into sunset and daybreak, listen to the night murmuring and the dawn stirring."

Mount Kenya is the second-tallest mountain in Africa. Located just below the equator, it was created around three million years ago.
