Long activity holidays in Rome could be cheaper commuting in, expert says
E-mail Print

People should consider commuting into Rome for long activity holidays as it is cheaper.

People looking for long activity holidays in Rome should consider staying out of the city because it is cheaper.

That is according to Stefania Gatta, a spokeswoman for the Italian State Tourist Board, who said that while people on a short break to the city should stay in the centre, those on a longer visit should commute from outside.

She added that people looking for a cheap deal could stay in bed and breakfast accommodation provided by religious institutions as they can "save quite a lot of money".

Her comments come after research published by Post Office Travel Money earlier this week (April 4th) revealed that the UK pound is stronger than it was a year ago, making city visits cheaper.

Ms Gatta added that for those set on staying in the centre of Rome, there are good deals out there.

"The prices in hotels in Rome have dropped because of the tourism crisis all over Europe and America," she said.

"It's always been quite expensive to go to Rome, but now you can find good deals in four or five star hotels."
