E-mail Print

Those looking for walking holidays could try Colombian city with 'oasis of calm'.

People looking for walking holidays could visit Colombia because its city of Cartagena "is an oasis of calm".

That is according to Carinthia West, reviewing the country for the Daily Mail, who said that the city is "spread out like an array of gems" and that there is no better way to find the real Cartagena than walking its streets.

She added that it also has plenty of history, with statues and stories scattered around for people to see.

Additionally, she pinpointed the harbour as an area to visit for people looking to revel in the history of the north Colombia city.

"But Cartagena is an oasis of calm and visitors can feel very safe. This is a bright and flourishing city full of excellent restaurants and designer boutiques," she told the news provider.

"Cartagena's hidden harbour nestles in a chain of islands, lagoons and swamps, making it the port of choice for trade in everything from gold to slaves."

Colombia has a population of 46.3 million people and exports a range of products including coffee, coal and gold.
