Costa Rica emerging as big-wave surfing hotspot

Thrill-seeking surfers are reportedly flocking to Costa Rica for big waves.

Growing numbers of surf-lovers are flocking to Costa Rica in search of the perfect adventure holidays, it has been reported. 

In particular, the Central American country is starting to establish itself as a hotspot for surfers chasing big waves, with Fox News reporting that both Americans and Europeans can now be found alongside locals on many of the best Pacific beaches.

Indeed, though the first Americans started arriving 30 years ago, it is only in the past couple of years that foreigners have started to see Costa Rica as a great alternative to the likes of Hawaii or California for surf-themed adventure holidays.

Reporting on the scene in the popular Nosara Beach in the north-west of the peaceful country, the news provider notes that, while well-heeled executives are able to chase their surfer-boy dreams out at sea, their wives and children are able to enjoy a growing cafe scene, not to mention miles of unspoilt beaches and the company of friendly locals.

Though small in size, Costa Rica is also famed for its world-beating biodiversity, with monkeys, parrots and hundreds of types of colourful birds all to be found in its rain and cloud forests.
