Western Cape capital has fine wine and 'beautiful' vistas
The South African city of Cape Town has a lot to offer people planning cycling holidays, including "beautiful scenery", as well as fine food and wine to keep the legs going.
Cape Town, which is the capital city of the Western Cape region, has been named the best destination for travel in the world by recommendation website Trip Advisor.
The city topped the Travellers' Choice Awards, which are held every year by the tourism advice firm.
Emma O'Boyle, a spokesperson for Trip Advisor, suggested that there are many different reasons for Cape Town's popularity.
"With beautiful scenery, great wine and gorgeous weather, it's easy to see why Cape Town, which also played host to last year's World Cup, has topped this year's list," she said.
Other destinations that appeared high up on the table were Peru's Machu Picchu - which was ranked as the world's third best destination - and Rio de Janeiro, which was in fifth place.
