Seychelles is a 'slow and laid back' destination

Adventure holidays to the island nation could take in fantastic wildlife

News broke yesterday that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have decided to take a trip to the Seychelles for their honeymoon.

People planning long-haul adventure holidays may like to follow the royal couple's lead, as the island nation is great for exploring.

Travel expert Amanda Statham wrote about the destination for the Daily Mail newspaper, saying the wildlife in the country is particularly impressive.

"The pace of life is slow and laidback; the two types of transport are ox-cart or bicycle and boats are traditionally made by hand," he said.

"[It's also] big on conservation, so the royal couple could expect to spot giant tortoises on the white sand beach and see flocks on endangered birds during a stay here."

The Seychelles are a collection of over 100 islands located in the Indian Ocean, it is technically an African state - indeed, the African state with the smallest population.
