Michael Buerk recommends trips to Cambodia
Travellers planning solo holidays to south-east Asia should visit Cambodia, which is the best destination in the whole region.
That is according to newsreader, journalist and television presenter Michael Buerk, who wrote about his experience in the country for the Daily Mail newspaper.
Some of the best things in the country are free, such as the scenery, but the food in the country is also incredible.
"In fact, this is the most compelling tourist destination in south-east Asia," he said.
"The scenery is rich, the food - with its French colonial overtones - exotic. Park by the pool … and soak up the old Indochina, free of Thailand's rampant commercialism or Vietnam's frenetic crowds.
People on solo holidays in the south-east Asian country will be able to visit the region of Angkor, which is home to over a hundred ancient, breathtaking former temples. These ruins have been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
