Explore the south-east Asian country and its history
The south-east Asian country of Laos is becoming more popular, it has been revealed. This is probably in part due to the large range of opportunities for people on adventure holidays.
Laos offers travellers a lot, despite being relatively diminutive in size (it has an area of 91,428.991 square miles, which is smaller than Romania and Uganda).
Some of the activities people can take part in while discovering Laos including elephant trekking, cycling and exploring the 16th-century areas of capital city Vientiane, which was originally built by King Saysetthathirath.
ABTA: The Travel Association, the organisation which represents travel agencies in the United Kingdom, recently revealed that the popularity of Laos and its neighbours are on the up.
"We have seen lots of Asian countries become incredibly popular, places like Cambodia and Laos," a spokesperson for the organisation said.
Laos is landlocked and is bordered by Burma, China, Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand, which together make up some of the most popular tourist destinations in Asia.
