Tourism will offer lots more to the country's GDP
Montenegro has "a wide range" of activities that people on activity trips can take part in, including hiking and biking opportunities.
Predrag Sekulic, Montenegro's minister for sustainable development and tourism, said that the country offers a wide range of opportunities for people on adventure holidays.
"In addition to sun and beach tourism, which has been the mainstay of Montenegro's tourism over the past decade … the mountain region of Montenegro is attracting growing attention," he said.
"We have [also] recently rolled out a wide range of niche market tourism products, such as hiking and biking, water rafting and mountain treks."
The comments were made on the back of new figures released by Oxford Economics and the World Travel and Tourism Council, which revealed that the eastern European country is set for a huge boost in tourist numbers.
Research from the organisations show that tourism's total contribution to GDP is set to rise from 15.7 per cent last year to 36.3 per cent by 2021.
